Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD) Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu is functioning under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India.

RGNIYD functions as a vital resource centre with its multi-faceted functions of offering academic programmes at Post Graduate level encompassing various dimensions of Youth Development, engaging in seminal research in the vital areas of Youth Development and coordinating Training Programmes for state agencies and the officials of youth organizations, besides the extension and outreach initiatives in rural, urban as well as tribal areas.

RGNIYD serves as a youth observatory and depository in the country thereby embarking on youth surveillance on youth-related issues. It has a wide network with various organizations working for the welfare and development of young people and serves as a mentor.

RGNIYD offers the following master degree programmes for the Academic Year 2016-17.

Applications are invited from the eligible candidates for engagement as Assistant Professor (on contract) for the Academic Year 2017-18 with the following specialization:

Note: Candidates desiring to apply for the above disciplines shall need to submit their applications only through online.


  1. Candidates having Master’s Degree with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) in the relevant subject with NET/SLET/SET (wherever applicable) with consistently Good Academic record as defined by the University. [Under the term 'Good Academic Record' the candidate must have obtained on an average of 50% / 45% marks in each of the two public examinations/degrees immediately preceding the Master's degree. Further a relaxation of 5% shall be allowed to SC/ST and PWD candidates on the above marks.].
  2. Candidates with Ph.D. in accordance with the UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SLET/SET as prescribed in “UGC regulations 2010 for minimum qualification for appointment of Teachers”.
  3. Retired teachers from Universities/ Institutions are also eligible, but should not be more than 65 years of age as on 05-06-2017.


  1. The application process is purely online based.
  2. Candidates desire to apply shall need to login RGNIYD website ( and follow the instructions provided thereon.
  3. Candidates desire to apply more than one specialization shall need to submit separate application online.
  4. Upon submission of application online, candidates shall need to take print out of online submitted application and send the same along with all supporting documents, superscribing  “application for Assistant Professor (on contract)”,   to the Registrar, Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD), Pennalur, Sriprumbudur – 602105.
  5. The last date for submission of application online is 05.06.2017.
  6. The last date for receipt of hard copy of the applications along with supporting documents is 09.06.2017.


  1. Mere fulfilment of minimum qualification and experience requirement does not entitle to any candidate for interview.
  2. Short-listing screening criteria may be set higher than the minimum advertised.
  3. Selected candidates will be paid a consolidated remuneration of Rs.30,000/-pm.
  4. The selected candidates will be engaged on purely temporary basis for a period of one academic year (2017-18). This may be subjected to extension / curtailment depending upon the requirements. Under any circumstances, candidate cannot claim any right for permanent position.
  5. Candidates may note that these contract positions are basically to meet the immediate academic requirement of the Institute and at no point, selection will not make them eligible for regular interviews to be conducted in future.
  6. Only candidates possessing Master Degree in the relevant subject with NET (wherever applicable) or Ph.D. (confirming to UGC regulations’ 2009) will be interviewed.
  7. Relaxation of 5% marks may be provided to Ph.D. degree holders, who have obtained their Master Degree prior to 19th September, 1991.
  8. Reservation will be made applicable as per UGC/GOI guidelines / norms.
  9. Candidates belong to SC, ST, OBC, PWD, Women & minority community are encouraged to apply.
  10. Other terms and conditions of their engagement will be governed by the norms as prescribed by the Statutes / Ordinance of RGNIYD from time to time.
  11. Applications received after 09.06.2017 will not be considered
  12. Candidates shall need to visit RGNIYD website regularly for updates.
  13. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the Interview.
  14. Canvassing in any form or bringing of any influence, political or otherwise, will be treated as disqualification on the part of the Candidate.
