With a view to build the professional capacity of youth organisations, both government and voluntary, enabling them to carry out their work more effectively, the Centre addresses its mission through the following two Departments.
1. Department of Training and Orientation
- The Department conducts training and orientation programmes to widen the knowledge-base and upgrade competencies of the professional functionaries of youth development agencies through short term training programmes besides rendering expertise in designing targeted training programmes and core-material for use by the agencies that wish to have in-house training.
- It assists the youth development agencies in strengthening its areas of operations; especially programme development and their implementation, by providing consultancy services.
- The Department organizes theme-based / customised training programmes for youth organisations â government agencies such as, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan and National Service Scheme, youth-related voluntary organisations and youth functionaries to enable value addition in their respective areas of development work.
2. Department of Livelihood Development
- The Department in collaboration with empanelled agencies of the Central/State Government, promotes youth entrepreneurship and certified vocational training programmes to enable the youth secure placements in appropriate sectors and also facilitates setting up of business ventures.
- The Department has linkages with National Council of Vocational Training (NCVT) to provide certification to out-of-school young people under its modular employable skills.
- It seeks to develop a network of agencies engaged in youth livelihood programmes and facilitate sharing of experiences and organizing collaborative ventures.
- Further, it works in cooperation with the corporate sector, identify areas of vocational and management competencies that will enhance the employability of young people; and arrange for their training and deployment as part of Public-Private Partnership (PPP).
- It also undertakes the documentation on innovative youth entrepreneurship projects and disseminates information to young people and youth organizations.
