PRAKRITI Nature Club at RGNIYD

Introduction

 

Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development has established various clubs to educate its students and encourage them towards various issues that are to be addressed. The nature club is one of them which try to educate the students about various environmental issues to protect the nature. The Nature Club@RGNIYD strives to sensitise and encourage its whole community (students, faculty and staff) towards protecting and preserving the natural resources in the society in general and in the RGNIYD campus in particular.

 

Vision

 

Protecting and preserving the natural resources by meeting the present needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.

 

Mission

 

Sensitising the student community and faculty at RGNIYD about Environment, Initiating various activities towards environmental protection, conducting various academic discourses on climate change, global warming etc. organising environmental education camps, making the RGNIYD campus greenery and preserving the natural resources is the mission statement of the Nature Club.

 

Objectives

 

In order to achieve the vision and mission of the Nature Club, the following objectives have been formulated. These objectives will also survive the goals of sustainable development as whole.

  • To evolve an action plan to achieve the vision of the Nature Club
  • To encourage volunteers from students and faculty members from RGNIYD
  • To materialize collaborations from various organisations and institutions
  • To bring experts in the area of environmental protection
  • To conduct camps, national meets and absorb the international practices
  • To encourage the volunteers to organise various events within and outside the campus of RGNIYG aiming achieving the vision
  • To promote eco-friendly activities

 

Strategies

 

Various strategies have been adopted to execute the activities of the nature club at RGNIYD. The following are the strategies.

  • Creating an healthy environment
  • Sensitising the volunteers about environmental ethics
  • Following the best practices of other institutions
  • Propagating the sustainable development goals
  • Bringing various stakeholders together
  • Collaboration with larger civil society organisations

 

Action Plan

 

A set of activities have been drafted for the present academic year (2015-2016). During this year the following activities may be carried out in order to achieve the objectives of the PRAKRITI. The following are the activities:
