Centre for Policy and Action Research
- The Centre for Policy and Action Research acts as 'think tank' and resource agency, carrying out extensive policy research to provide data and information on youth-related issues to all policy-making bodies, including state governments, to help them in the formulation of youth-related policies and development of programmes.
- The Centre assists in mainstreaming and integrating youth developmental needs and their concerns into policies, programme initiatives, and legislations of different ministries and departments.
- This Centre promotes and undertakes research on youth development across sectors with a view to provide inputs in policy formulation and programme management including impact analysis and policy correction, so as to work in accord with the relevant agencies in planning the national agenda for youth development.
- Further, the Centre, examines resolutions and reports of regional and international conferences and meetings on youth-related issues, and pick out those recommendations that need to be brought to the attention of the various policy-making bodies and agencies for necessary action.
- As an Institute of Advanced Research, the Centre seeks to develop professional excellence to undertake evidence based research programmes to substantiate the imperativeness of youth development programmes. In collaboration with specialised agencies working in various youth-related areas, the Centre endeavours to set up field projects to develop models of âbest practiceâ that can be replicated or adapted by youth organisations including government and voluntary agencies, or youth groups to suit their specific conditions.
- Through the multifarious activities of the Centre, the Institute in consultation with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and State Governments, develops suitable mechanisms for participation of young people in youth-related policy-making and planning bodies.
