Inaugural address by Prof MM Goel to the NSS Programme Officers on ‘ Life Skills Education Programme for Adolescents’ on 29 August 2017

Sriperumbudur (Chennai), August 29 – Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development ( RGNIYD) has organised  the Training of Trainers (ToT) for the NSS Programme Officers     on ‘ Life Skills  Education Programme for Adolescents’ during 29- 30 August, 2017 at Sri Ram Chandra Medical University, Porur

Professor (Dr.) M.M. Goel, Director RGNIYD while delivering the inaugural address   justified the need for understanding, analysing and interpreting the problems of adolescents and train them with life skills   for inclusiveness to survive, exist and excel in times to come.

To protect the minds of adolescents from being imbued by the present state of growing intolerance and violence, we need to provide them spiritual input from Gita and Anu-Gita, said Professor Goel.

The adolescents   need to be motivated to live with nothing for the self but for the others- the principle of altruism from the logo of NSS ‘Not Me But You’, told Prof. Goel

Let the adolescents be motivated to think ‘out of the box’ solutions of their problems in present times of competition which is unhealthy also, believes Professor Goel who is an economist.

We have to ensure the survival of weak by making them unique by replacing the dictum of the ‘survival of the fittest’ which is a jungle raj, said Prof. Goel.

Dr .P.V. Vijayaraghavan Vice-Chancellor, Sri Ram Chandra Medical University   presided over the function.

Shri C.Samuel Chelliah Regional Director NSS graced the inaugural ceremony as guest of honour.

Prof. Vasanthi Rajenderan welcomed the guests and presented saplings as part of go green initiative of RGNIYD.  Ms Anbu Kavitha proposed the vote of thanks.
