International Youth Day 2017

Sriperumbudur, August 11- RGNIYD commemorated International Youth Day 2017 by holding a special lecture by Dr. D. Agochiya,  Former Director, Commonwealth Youth Programme, London.    

While delivering the presidential address Professor (Dr.) M.M. Goel, Director RGNIYD said that  the theme of International Youth Day 2017 ‘ Youth Building Peace’ calls for adopting non-violence in economics as needonomics ( economics of needs) and no to Greedonomics which is major cause of violence, corruption ,terrorism and exploitation of all kinds.

 To achieve Goal 16 of the  2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development for ensuring responsive, inclusive, participatory and representative decision-making at all levels, we need to become SMART and SIMPLE in the strict sense, opined Professor Goel.

Dr. Agochiya highlighted the policy-plank of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modiji - Sab-ka-Saath; Sab-ka-Vikaas he called for inclusive participation of youth in all political and governance processes and the need to enhance accessibility to institutions of governance, decision-making (especially at local levels) which is primary for ensuring peace in the country.  

 Prof. Vasanthi Rajenderan welcomed the guests and presented saplings as part of go green imitative of RGNIYD.
