Sriperumbudur, Dec.09- Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD - An institution of national importance by the Act of Parliament) organized a three day capacity building programme on âSocial Inclusion for Panchyat Functionariesâ which began at Centre for Youth and Social Development (CYSD), Bhubaneswar today.
While delivering the keynote address Professor (Dr.) M.M. Goel, Director RGNIYD said that social exclusion is apparent in terms of discriminations, distress, discontent and deprivations (4D) in Indian democracy.
According to Prof. Goel the careless and useless manpower are the challenge for social inclusion in India and they need to be made careful and useful to the society. Let us change our looks, actions and words (LAW) to make it the real law of the land, emphasized the Director, RGNIYD. We need to learn from a needle which stitches two to one and not the scissors which divide one into two pieces, told Prof. Goel
He made a strong case for defining and differentiating between âNeedonomicsâ ( economics of needs) and âGreedonomicsâ(economics of greed) for ensuring social inclusion by adopting Spiritually Guided Materialism Strategy. We have to convert holiday culture into holy-day culture as worship is work and vice-versa for creating work culture which is otherwise missing, opined Prof. Goel. For empowering youth, we have to increase return on training investment (ROTI) on the skills which are necessary including communication by making them really SMART & SIMPLE.
Earlier Shri P.K. Sahoo, Chairman CYSD welcomed the guests and participants and Dr. Pitabasa Sahoo provided the details of the programme.
