Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD), Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu, is an Institute of National Importance by an Act of Parliament under the administrative control of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. RGNIYD functions as a vital resource centre with its multi -faceted functions of offering academic programmes at Post Graduate level encompassing various dimensions of youth development, engaging in seminal research in the vital areas of youth development and coordinating Training Programmes for state agencies and the officials of youth organisation, besides the Extension and Outreach initiatives across the country.

 

Department of Gender Studies invites applications for a post of Assistant Professor on contract basis.

Qualification:

a) Candidates having Master’s Degree in Women / Gender Studies or allied subjects with Specialization in Women / Gender Studies (at M.Phil / Ph D level) with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) in the relevant subject with NET/SLET/SET and with consistent Good Academic record as defined by UGC.[Under the term 'Good Academic Record' the candidate must have obtained on an average of 50% / 45% marks in each of the two public examinations/degrees immediately preceding the Master's degree for selection to Science / Humanities faculties respectively. Further a relaxation of 5 % shall be allowed to SC/ST and PWD candidates on the above marks.].

 

b) Candidates with Ph.D. in accordance with the UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SLET/SET as prescribed in “UGC regulations 2010 for minimum qualification for appointment of Teachers”.

 

c) Retired University Academic Staff are also eligible, but should not be more than 65 years of age as on 20-04-2014.

 

d) Candidates having teaching experience of at least 2 years will be given preference.

 

OTHER TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

  1. Selected candidate will be paid a consolidated remuneration of Rs.30,000/-pm
  2. The selected candidates will be engaged on purely temporary basis for a period until last working day of this semester. Under no circumstances, candidates can claim any right for permanent positions.
  3. Candidates may note that the contract position is basically to meet the immediate academic requirement of the Institute and at no point, selection in this Interview will make them eligible for regular interviews to be conducted in future.
  4. Only candidates possessing Master Degree in the relevant subject with NET or Ph.D. (confirming to UGC regulations’ 2009) will be called for interview.
  5. Relaxation of 5% marks may be provided to Ph.D. degree holders, who have obtained their Master Degree prior to 19th September, 1991.
  6. Reservation will be made applicable as per UGC/GOI guidelines / norms.
  7. Candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC, PWD, Women and minority community are encouraged to apply.
  8. Other terms and conditions of service will be governed by the norms as prescribed by the Acts/ Statutes / Ordinances of RGNIYD.
  9. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
  10. Canvassing in any form or bringing any influence, political or otherwise, will be treated as disqualification on the part of the Candidate.
