Three Day Training of Trainers (ToT) on Youth and Peace Building from 20 - 22 January 2018

A Three Day Training of Trainers (ToT) on Youth and Peace Building is organised by Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD), An Institution of national importance by an Act of Parliament under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India in collaboration with State NSS Cell, Government of Telangana and Gandhi Research Foundation, Maharashtra hosted at Anurag Group of Institutions, Hyderabad from 20-22 January, 2018. The prime objective is to train NSS Programme Officers (POs) of Telangana State on Youth engagement for peace building in line with the priority areas of National Youth Policy, 2014. There are 40 POs selected from various parts of Telangana state. These Programme Officers will capacitate large number of youth in the state towards promoting peace and tranquillity within their communities.

The three days ToT was inaugurated by Dr.Palla.Rajeshwar Reddy, Chairman, Anurag Group of Institution, Hyderabad, Member of Legislative Council (MLC), and Government WIP of Telangana. In his inaugural address, Dr.Reddy highlighted about humanism and nationalism for achieving peace in the country. He also mentioned about youth involvement in achieving Bangaru Telangana is very much essential at this juncture. Dr.Vasanthi Rajendran, Professor, CTOCB, RGNIYD explained the mandate of RGNIYD and briefed about the ToT on Youth and Peace Building. She highlighted that the NSS POs should engage large number of youth in the state of Telangana.

Dr.Vishnu Dev, State NSS Officer, Government of Telangana stated that all the NSS POs in Telangana state will be trained on various aspects with an objective to capacitate large number of youth to promote peace, employability and entrepreneurship with the support of RGNIYD.

Mr. C.Mallesha, NSS Programme Officer, Anurag Group of Institutions welcomed all the dignitaries and NSS POs in the programme. Ms.S.Neelima, Secretary and Correspondent, Anurag Group of Institutions, Dr.John Chelladorai, Dean, Gandhi Research Foundation, Maharashtra, Dr.Rambabu Botcha, Assistant Professor, CTOCB, RGNIYD were also present.

 

 

Press Report-2nd Day- 21-01.2018

The second day was started with the recap of the first day of the three days Training of Trainers (ToT) on Youth and Peace Building being conducted at Anurag Group of Institutions, Hyderabad. Dr.John Chelladorai, key resource person off the programme trained the NSS POs on peace with theoretical inputs. He further organised a couple sessions on the theme.

Dr.Vasanthi Rajendran, Professor, Centre for Training, Orientation and Capacity Building, RGNIYD handled a session on National Youth Policy (NYP)-2014 and Youth Development Index (YDI)-2017. She highlighted the priority areas of NYP and specific objectives with future imperatives. The participants were briefed to implement the national youth policy in their respective locations. She explained about the major domains of YDI to measure the performance of each state and Himachal Pradesh stands first as far as the YDI is concerned. She also talked about various programmes and activities of RGNIYD. Dr.Rajendran has explained about the SMART and SIMPLE models for youth development to the participants. These two models were invented and introduced by Prof. Dr.Madan Mohan Goel, The Director of RGNIYD. Dr.Goel has been propagating and capacitating thousands of youth across the country with these SMART and SIMPLE models.

Dr.Rambabu Botcha, Assistant Professor, Centre for Training, Orientation and Capacity Building, RGNIYD handled a session on Youth for Nation Building and Post-Graduate Diploma in Youth Development. In his session, he stated that the youth should be prepared to be the ‘Employment Generators than Employment Seekers’. He further highlighted about the youth centrist nation building which is there in the hands of 33 crores of young people of the country. He also mentioned that the youth should lead the nation in terms participation, engagement, involvement, and contribution by developing leadership qualities, personality development and accessing opportunities across the globe.

Dr.John Chelladorai, Dean, Gandhi Research Foundation (GRF) conducted ‘Peace Walk’ in Nandana Vanam of Bhagyanagaram which is located near to the venues of the programme. All the participants took part in the peace walk which took place for one hour between 5.00 pm to 6.00 pm. Dr.Chelladorai has connected the human being with Pachabhutas. It was an interesting walk to all the NSS POs.

 

 

 

 

Press Report-3rd Day- 22-01.2018

The third was started with the recap of the second day of the programme. Dr.John Chelladorai did conduct that session and reflected on the feedback given by the participants of the three days Training of Trainers (ToT) on youth and peace building organised by the Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD), Sriperumbudur.

In the morning sessions, Dr.Chelladorai has given inputs about various types of conflicts and their root causes. Later on, he has highlighted various techniques of conflict transformation to the participants with examples and activities. All the participants did actively take part in the sessions.

Afternoon, the valedictory of the three days programme was held at the auditorium of Anurag Group of Institutions, Hyderabad. Shri.Shekar Perla, Vice-Chairman, Nehru Yuvak Kendra Sanghatan (NYKS) was the Chief Guest, Prof.Gokula Krishnan, Regional Director, National Service Scheme (NSS) was the Guest of Honour, Dr.Vishnu Dev, the NSS State Officer, Government of Telangana and Dr.Muthu Reddy from Anurag Group of Institutions were present in the valedictory.

Shri.Shekar Perla, Chief Guest of the day and Vice-Chairman, Nehru Yuvak Kendra Sanghatan (NYKS) delivered the valedictory address. In his address, he highlighted that youth should be empowered through NYKS, NSS and RGNIYD which are sister organisations under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. The youth of the Telangana state should capture the opportunities through the NSS POs across the country.

Prof.Gokula Krishnan, Regional Director, National Service Scheme (NSS), the Guest of Honour has highlighted that ToT on Youth and Peace Building has inculcated a lot of approaches to put the youth of Telangana in a right direction towards nation building. Hence, the POs should transform the NSS volunteers into change agents and make this country more peaceful.

Dr.Vishnu Dev, the NSS State Officer, Government of Telangana reiterated that the three day programme has trained all the participant POs on youth and peace building and they will definitely deliver the same to the youth of the Telangana state towards achieving the same. He expressed his gratitude to RGNIYD for collaborating for this ToT and assured that any such programmes by RGNIYD will be organised to NSS POs.

Dr.Rambabu Botcha, Assistant Professor, Centre for Training, Orientation and Capacity Building, RGNIYD has appreciated the State NSS Cell, Government of Telangana and Anurag Group of Institutions for organising this wonderful programme for the NSS POs of Telangana state. He stated that the RGNIYD will continue to collaborate with the state NSS Cell, Government of Telangana
