Name of the Post: Regional Director

Place of Posting: RGNIYD Regional Centre, Chandigarh

Pay: 1.2 Lakhs lumpsum per month

Duration of the Tenure: 12 Months (extendable for another 6 months)

Type of Employment: Purely on Contract Basis


Essential Educational Qualification:

                        Master’s degree in Social Work, Sociology, Peace Studies, Psychology, Gender Studies, Youth Studies

Preferable: NET Qualification/Ph.D in related Disciplines

Desirable Qualifications:

The candidate must:

  • Have a strong commitment for Youth Development in India
  • Be able to ensure the establishment and effective management of programmes and activities of RGNIYD Regional Centre, Chandigarh, with support from different teams
  • Be able to establish partnerships with Government, Academic Institutions, International Organisations and Youth Organisations
  • Possess the skills to motivate and manage the staff of the RGNIYD Regional Centre
  • Be responsible for overall operations and finances of the Regional Centre
  • Have qualities of leadership, strategic vision, patience and persistence and strong interpersonal and entrepreneurial skills


1. The applicant must ensure that he/she fulfills the eligibility conditions for the post as stipulated by RGNIYD.

2. Candidates with requisite qualifications acquired from recognized University/Institutions need only apply.

3. The candidate should possess the required experience as stipulated by RGNIYD for the said position.

4. Upper age limit: 55 years as on the last date for receipt of completed application.

5. All degrees and research work must be in the discipline/area of specialization for which the post is advertised.

6. The minimum qualifications required for the post of Regional Director, RGNIYD Regional Centre will be those as prescribed by the Institute.

7. A minimum of 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) will be required at the Master’s level.

8. The period of time taken by the candidates to acquire M.Phil and/or Ph.D Degree shall not be considered as experience to be claimed for appointment.

9. Excellent academic background, high quality publications, potential to get research funding from Government agencies and industries, handling action research/extension projects, documentation, dissemination activities and other appropriate professional activities undertaken besides good facilitation/teaching skills will be an added advantage.

10. Experience & Qualifications will be reckoned on the last date prescribed for receipt of application.

11. Candidates may note that the qualification as amended by the Institute from time to time shall be applicable.

12. Application for each the said post must be placed in a SEPARATE COVER. The title of the post applied for must be super-scribed on the envelope without fail.

13. Candidates already in service must submit their applications through proper channel. In case the applicant is in service, and if any delay is expected in getting endorsement of the employer, the applicant may submit Advance Copy of the application, with all enclosures, to the address given in the notification directly (with or without employer's endorsement on the Advance Copy). If the original application through proper channel is not received by the Institute within the last date mentioned in the notification, the candidate/applicant will have to submit a 'No Objection Certificate' obtained from his/her employer to the Institute at the time of interview, if he/she is called for interview failing which he / she shall not be allowed for interview

14. Application or CV/Bio-Data sent through e-mail / fax or any mode except as prescribed in the advertisement will not be considered under any circumstances.

15. Applications received after the stipulated date or incomplete in any respect or not readable easily will not be entertained and no further correspondence will be made in this regard.

16. Application submitted for the said post is not transferable to any other post.

17. Candidates are requested to provide as much details of their professional accomplishments as possible by attaching certificates, testimonials, brief write up on awards/ highlights of innovations made, awards and honours received etc.

18. No correspondence/interim queries will be entertained from candidates.

19. Amendments/changes, if any, in the advertisement will be published only on the Institute Website. Candidates are therefore requested to visit the RGNIYD’s web site frequently to know the latest position and check their e-mail as communication will be sent to their e-mail address furnished in their applications.

20. Submission of proof is mandatory with reference to the information given in the application, wherever required.

21. Applicants should send their applications duly filled in along with their CV with the evidence of photocopies of the related credentials.

22. A photocopy, each of all these credentials should be sent along with the self-attested copies, failing which the candidate may not be called for interview.

23. Candidates should also enclose self-attested copies of certificates towards the evidence of age, educational qualifications, community, Physical Disability, experience, etc. in the same order as mentioned in the check list.

24. Certificate in support of experience should be in proper format i.e. it should be on the organization’s letter head bearing the date of issue, specified period of work, name and designation of the issuing authority along with its signature.

25. No TA/DA shall be paid for appearing for the interview.

26. The Institute reserves the right to fill or not to fill any post.

27. The Institute reserves the right to withdraw the advertised post at any time without giving any reason.    

28. The prescribed qualification and experience are minimum and the mere fact that a candidate possesses the same will not entitle him/her for being called for interview. The Institute reserves the right to restrict the candidates to be called for interview to a reasonable number on the basis of qualifications and experience higher than the minimum prescribed as decided by duly constituted Screening Committee/s and approved by the Competent Authority based on prescribed norms of the Institute.

Call letters for attending interview will be sent only to the short-listed candidates by Speed Post or Registered Post or Courier service and also by email. No correspondence will be made with applicants who are not short listed/not called for interview.

29. Request for conduct of interview through Telephone/Video Conference/Skype etc., will not be considered.

30. The selected candidate shall not be admissible for any other perks/allowances apart from the monthly salary. The other terms and conditions of employment shall be conveyed to the selected candidate directly by the Institute.

31. Institute will not be responsible for any postal delay at any stage. Hence candidates are advised to send their applications along with supporting documents well in advance.

32. Canvassing in any form will disqualify the candidates.
