Kottu Sekhar has had long years of experience in training and youth work. He got a first in MA (social work, Andhra University, Visakhapatnam), passed NET (JRF), and was awarded Ph.D. by the same university. He started his career (1984-85) as a research assistant and then lecturer in National Institute of Social Work and Social Sciences (NISWASS), Bhubaneswar, a leading NGO which grew into a deemed university in later years. During his stint (October 1995 to April 2008) as Lecturer-cum-Community Organiser at the National Service Scheme, Training and Orientation Centre (now ETI), Andhra University, he continuously upgraded his skills and competencies and kept himself abreast of developments in the area of youth development. As Reader-cum- Deputy Director at the Centre for Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy (CSSEIP), Andhra University (April 2008 to July 2010) he contributed to the growth of the centre by conducting field studies and embarking on informed research. He joined the RGNIYD as Faculty Head in July 2010 and headed three training divisions (SHANU, ICEYD and GENDER). Presently he heads the regional centre at Chandigarh. In addition to presenting papers at national and international conferences and seminars and participating in training programmes and workshops, Dr. Sekhar has published in peer-reviewed journals. Some of his articles/papers critiqued dominant paradigms relating to youth development, sub-regionalism, social exclusion, family studies, media, and corporate social responsibility and are cited often. He has supervised three doctoral theses. His work experience presents a variegated blend of training, teaching, and research.
