ADMISSION TO

Ph.D. IN YOUTH DEVELOPMENT

(INTER-DISCIPLINARY)

 

          Applications are invited for admission to the Ph.D. programmes offered by the University. Admission will be based on all-India basis, strictly according to merit and suitability of the candidate to pursue the programme.

           Areas of Research have been broadly classified into the following areas: Youth Empowerment, Career Counselling, Gender Studies, Local Governance and Life Skills Education. All the areas suggested for research are inter-disciplinary in nature.

            The RGNIYD University has already launched five Post-Graduate programmes during the year 2008 in five unique and futuristic disciplines like Youth Empowerment, Career Counselling, Gender Studies, Local Governance and Life Skills Education. These programmes are aimed at developing youth work as a profession. As a natural follow up to the launching of PG programmes, the University is now launching the Ph.D. programmes in Youth Development and allied areas, with an inter-disciplinary approach. Limited number of University fellowships are available for the candidates.

Eligibility:

              A candidate with a Master’s degree in social sciences or humanities with minimum of 55% of marks (50% in case of SC/ST candidates) is eligible to apply. Preference will be given to candidates already working in the area of youth development and allied areas.

              A candidate may pursue doctoral research as a ‘Full time research scholar’ with or without fellowship or sponsorship or project support.

              ‘Part time research’ is also available to those candidates with not less than two years of work experience in the recognized teaching and research institutions/NGOS/Youth Development organisations after fulfilling the eligibility conditions prescribed.
 

Admission procedure:

              The selection process is comprised of an Entrance Test and interview. The candidates without M.Phil and UGC-JRF/NET/ SLET qualification shall take both Entrance Test (60 Marks) and Interview (40 Marks). The candidates qualified in UGC-JRF/ NET/ SLET/ M.Phil. and those who are working in the sponsored projects shall be exempted from the Entrance Test. However, these candidates should attend the interview along with others.

             Interested and eligible candidates shall apply through the prescribed application form available at www.rgniyd.gov.in and take the print out of the form. The completed application along with the prescribed fee of Rs.500 which can be paid through a demand draft drawn in favour of 'The Director, Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development' payable at Sriperumbudur.
